Embracing Each New Day…

Even in the midst of grieving and remembering the one year anniversary of Will’s passing onto heaven and the miracles of the boys and I surviving the tragic accident a year ago this past week, we have found opportunities to discover God’s continued promises and embrace each day He gives us. We were blown away when we saw this amazing rainbow in the sky a week ago on Sunday, July 14th and stopped to take pictures and talk about how God always keeps His promises and how seeing it a year after He rescued us from being more seriously injured in the accident, that He is still with us and will continue to carry us, lift us up, provide for us, and be with us as we embrace each new day as a precious gift from Him.

Summer adventures have been in full swing this past week and I thought I would share some of the ways we have been embracing our days…

010 Running and playing and making new friends!

Time with Grandma Lorraine and her sweet dog Lily

Spending time with and meeting Ann Ingalls, children’s author

Right now we are on a road trip visiting friends, family and celebrating my Dad and Stepmom’s 25th Wedding Anniversary. We are embracing precious time with them and creating new memories…

051We enjoyed stops along the road so the boys could run and play…

My dear friend from my high school days created an indoor camping area for the boys when we stayed with her at the halfway point on our way to my parent’s farm. What a special surprise! The boys had a ball in the tent she set up in the bedroom I stayed in.

Fun times with uncles!!!

Good times with all four of my brothers and sister-in-law and so meeting relatives and enjoying laughter and games…

and fishing with Grandpa and Grandma Charlotte at their lake.

Over the past week, I have been filled with awe at the miracles God has done in our lives to bring us to this time. This new day. I am thankful for so much. I am filled with awe of the amazing ways God fulfills His promises in each new day…and once again I am filled with gratitude for all the joy-filled days as we continue to heal, grow, and enjoy new memories and experiences…and as we remember…His Grace is enough.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

About the author

Mary Joy

I am a broken daughter of God and a work in progress. I am passionate about encouraging women to embrace God's grace and faithfulness as I discover and share His faithfulness, grace and even joy in the messiness of my journey as a widowed (less than 2 yrs), homeschooling mom with a missionary's heart. I am in awe of how God fills me up and carries me through each day. My Heavenly Father leads me as I continue to parent and home school my two recovering and very active boys and encourage my beautiful teenage step-daughter (long distance) during her first year in of college. In every moment I see incredible evidence of God's healing love, grace and faithfulness. I am so blessed to be the creator, manager, and an author of Unwrapping His Grace as I lean on my Savior to lead us in this special web-ministry.
