God is Calling Us out of our Comfort Zones…Do you Hear Him? (Journaling Guide Week 6)

If you haven’t had a chance to read “He is Calling Us out of our Comfort Zones…Do you Hear Him?”, be sure to stop for a moment now and click over and read it before reading this week’s journaling guide.

The reflection questions/actions are based on this devotion for this week.

And I have prayed about the direction to go with these, they are for me and my family as well as all of you.  I hope you find them helpful.  If they don’t fit you or your family’s journaling needs this week, as always, feel free to tweak them or create your own.  I look forward to hearing how God is working in your life this week!  You are in my prayers!

6 “The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain. 7 Turn and take your journey… Deuteronomy 1:6-7 ESV

Called to trust in His love enough to step out of our comfort zones… Journaling Guide for Adults

Day 1– Take some time to flip through your Bible, feel free to use a concordance to find the passages that focus on God’ love and how much we can trust His love. Pray about which passage or passages to write in your journal today.  Create something beautiful with the passages or just write them as a journal entry…whatever works best for you.

Day 2– Take some time to re-read the passage(s) you wrote in your journal on Day 1.  Then think of a time in your life you have felt Him with you during difficult times. Was He with you through something you read in His Word or a family member or friend or even a stranger. Write about it in your journal and then take some time to thank Him for being there for you and showing you that you can trust His loving care for you.

Day 3– Take some time to re-read the passage(s) you wrote in your journal on Day 1. Today we are going to think about our comfort zones.  Is there one thing that would be really outside of your comfort zone to do or experience?  What is it?  Take some time to write it down in your journal.

Day 4– Take some time to re-read the passage(s) you wrote in your journal for Day 1.  Take some time to think about your week so far.  Has there been a time this week when you felt God leading you to take a deep breath and trust His love enough to take His hand and step out of a comfort zone?  This could be to try something new that is scary to you or do something that might be embarrassing but might lead you closer to Him.  Write about it in your journal. Now take a moment to pray and ask God to help you to take the step He is calling you to take.  You might want to write your prayer as a letter to God in your journal.  I will be praying for you today as you take this step.

Day 5– Take some time to re-read the passage(s) you wrote in your journal on Day 1.  Today it is time to look back at the ways God has blessed you in the past.  Look at the times He has been there for you and with you.  Then it is time to take a step out of the comfort zone He is leading you to leave this week.  Do one thing that will help you to move off of the mountain He is calling you to leave.  You can do this because you are being led but God!  And God loves you SO much He would never leave you or forsake you.  You can trust Him.  Write about what you did to take that step and what happened in your journal.

About the author

Mary Joy

I am a broken daughter of God and a work in progress. I am passionate about encouraging women to embrace God's grace and faithfulness as I discover and share His faithfulness, grace and even joy in the messiness of my journey as a widowed (less than 2 yrs), homeschooling mom with a missionary's heart. I am in awe of how God fills me up and carries me through each day. My Heavenly Father leads me as I continue to parent and home school my two recovering and very active boys and encourage my beautiful teenage step-daughter (long distance) during her first year in of college. In every moment I see incredible evidence of God's healing love, grace and faithfulness. I am so blessed to be the creator, manager, and an author of Unwrapping His Grace as I lean on my Savior to lead us in this special web-ministry.
