Lately we’ve been unwrapping His Grace and delighting in the simple things…
We are being more intentional in making time to create together…play together…giggle together…be silly together.
To breathe in the pure joy and simplicity of life…as we grow closer as a family.
After many months of assisting me with baking biscuits…over this past Friday afternoon, I decided to let Josh try his hand at doing most of the work (not involving the oven). He was thrilled! He did a great job with only a little coaching from me. They were 1/2 think when they went into the oven and most of them were 2 inches tall when they came out! He was SO excited and proud! Not to mention how much we really enjoyed working together on this project.
Then Daddy requesting Josh’s biscuits last night for dinner made him proud as punch! This was his very first real from scratch cooking experience and it was a grand success all around!
Then…
Will surprised us with the initiating a new family tradition this past Friday night…
Family Game Night!
Will taught everyone how to play twelve dot dominoes for our first family game night to get us started…
Josh held his own…he LOVES games so he is thrilled with our special Friday night plans!
Michael was my young assistant…
Amazingly, after three rounds…Michael and I actually won! It was a lot of fun! And now that I won, I get to pick the game we will play this Friday night! I picked Candy Land…since Michael did such a great job as my assistant!
Michael and Daddy had a good case of the sillies this past weekend, even while we were soaking Michael’s injured finger in Epsom Salt water after dominoes. Michael shrieks with giggles of delight when Daddy starts being silly…and the soak is done before he realizes it!
Another day…
Josh decided to show me how he has mastered the hula hoop he got for his birthday (2/12). He did really well!
I couldn’t resist and had to give it a try too…mind you I haven’t done this in oh I’d say more than 30 years! And he caught me on camera!
I wasn’t as successful as he was…
But I learned two things…
One…
Never where sweats that are two sizes two big while hula hooping especially if it has been more than 30 years since the last time you have attempted this feat…LOL…or it may prove to be embarrassing!
Two…
Joining in the fun when your children least expect it brings peals of giggles from the children…not to mention can make you feel like a child again as you experience the pure joy of play!
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. Matthew 18:1-5 NIV
Now its your turn…
What are some ways that you and your family create together…play together…giggle together…or are silly together? I would love to hear about it in the comments below! Seriously! We may even try some of your ideas!!!
