Its Indian Summer in the Ozarks…

We are off enjoying some Autumn family adventures this weekend!

The weather is amazing!  The Ozark hills are covered in great sweeps of color!

We look forward to making every moment together count…making new memories!  After all, its “Indian Summer” in the Ozarks!  (Temperatures will be in the 80s all weekend before the chilly weather fully arrives late next week!)

Be sure to join us next week as I share:

My whole wheat biscuitsthat I created in my mission to surrender in the kitchen as we focus on giving praise to God even with what we eat.

Some of the fun and discipling that is happening in our Family Bible/Worship Time

Some of our “Indian Summer” Adventures and Autumn art projects (that we are in the process of completing)

Now its your turn…  What is your family up to this weekend?

We would love to hear about it!  Please share with us in the comments below!  I enjoy each one of your comments and love getting to know you, the “Learning to Live a Surrendered Life” community!  I promise to respond to every comment after the weekend comes to a close.  I can’t wait to hear all about it!

About the author

Mary Joy

I am a broken daughter of God and a work in progress. I am passionate about encouraging women to embrace God's grace and faithfulness as I discover and share His faithfulness, grace and even joy in the messiness of my journey as a recently widowed, homeschooling mom with a missionary's heart. I am in awe of how God fills me up and carries me through each day as a new widow and accident survivor. My Heavenly Father leads me as I continue to parent and homeschool our two recovering and very active boys; and encourage my beautiful teenage step-daughter (long distance) as she graduates from high school without her Daddy. In every moment I see incredible evidence of God's healing love, grace and faithfulness. I am so blessed to be the creator, manager, and lead author of Unwrapping His Grace as I lean on my Savior to lead us in this special web-ministry.

Hi, Mary Joy!! I am up early this morning working on laundry and finishing up organizing the school room after my bookshelf moving extravaganza! The grandchildren are here and Jeff's mom and stepdad will be coming for a visit later this morning. Trying no to get anxious this morning about everything that I want done…It will be a nice day and all the children will be outside a good bit. I'm sure we will all spend time out on the porch or in the yard swing watching and playing with all the little people. Enjoy the fall color up there! We haven't seen much yet, but it is still early for us!

Wow! Sounds like you have gotten a lot done before the gang was even up! I'm impressed! It sounds like you had a wonderful time visiting with your family and got a lot done. Sometimes we just have to go with the flow. Some day we hope to have yard swings too. They make being outside so nice and relaxing. Our Autumn colors are about 1/2 way there…I just love to watch the progress across the hills around our house. Another week or two and we will be at the peak color time.

Thanks for sharing your weekend exploits with us!

      Blessings!

Well…. When we woke up this morning it was 54 degrees F. COLD compared to what we have been use to all summer! Right now we are mowing the lawn (Hopefully for the last time! :) . I am waiting for my two sisters to finished with the front lawn, so I and my little sister (yes, there are four of us!) can work on the back lawn.

But the good thing about the cold weather is that we can get our long sleeved clothes out! Yay! :)

      Heather Joy,

That is so neat that you and your sisters help each other like that! Do you all live together or just near each other? Our days are starting out in the high 50s and ending in the 80s over the last few days. So we got a little of the chill in the morning with it heating up like summer by lunch time.

I love getting out the cool weather clothes too! We did that a couple of weeks ago when the cooler temperatures started to hit. At the moment we have summer and winter clothes out since the temperature doesn't seem to be able to make up its mind. lol

      Blessings!

Yes, all four of us live together. We are stay at home daughters. I have another brother and sister, but they are married and have kids.

Today the weather is quite warm again, so short sleeved shirts are in order! :)

What a special time you must have together! What a blessing!

          Thanks for sharing with us!

Looks like you are having fun!

This weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving, so my husband are enjoying some quiet time at home. We've gotten lots done around the house, and I have a yummy pork roast going in the oven!

      Angela,

I hope you had a wonderful Canadian Thanksgiving over the weekend! I would love to hear more about the history of Canadian Thanksgiving. Our son, Josh (8), has been asking me a lot of questions about it ever since he saw it on his calendar in his room. He even asked me if I know anyone in Canada that we could visit so that we can have TWO Thanksgiving Dinners. LOL He cracks me up. I told him that you don't celebrate it exactly the same as we do since Canada's history is different from the U.S. Now he wants to know more! So it looks like we will be doing a bit of research this week. Gotta love homeschooling!

Your pork roast sounds delicious! How did it turn out? And just curious…I think I saw you share one time that you are originally from the U.S. Do you celebrate the American Thanksgiving in November at your house too? Please share! We would love to learn from our Canadian neighbors!!

      Blessings!
